Bankart Tear

A Bankart tear is a tear to the anterior glenoid labrum associated with anterior shoulder dislocations.
It is named after Arthur Sydney Blundell Bankart, an English orthopaedic surgeon, who lived from 1879-1951.
Bankart described the lesion and the surgical procedure for repairing it. The operation was very successful and still performed today (mostly arthroscopic now, but still the same procedure).
