Anteroinferior Labrum

Snyder [6] reported two types of labral attachment to the glenoid as seen through arthroscopy [Table 10].

Table 10 – Variation in the attachment of the antero-inferior labrum to the glenoid

Description of Variant

% Prevalence

Type 1 - “The labrum has a smooth attachment to the neck of the glenoid and fuses with the edge of the articular cartilage”. [6]

~95% - Arthroscopy [6]

Type 2 - Meniscoid type attachment – characterized by a gap between the articular cartilage edge of the labrum and the glenoid

~5%   - Arthroscopy [6]
