experience in performing advanced shoulder arthroscopic surgery,
shoulder reconstruction and shoulder trauma surgery.
He has specialist skills in diagnostic
shoulder ultrasound,
minimally invasive surgery and
outcome assessments, providing a one-stop diagnostic service for
shoulder injuries and diseases.
His practice comprises a multidisciplinary shoulder and upper limb
service with close links with specialist shoulder and elbow therapists
and national specialists. All patients are closely monitored and
surgical outcomes are recorded in an Upper Limb Database. Dedicated
Shoulder and Elbow Therapists oversee the shoulder rehabilitation
according to protocols developed by the team.
Mr Funk spends at least two days a week in the operating theatre
performing elective surgery and three half-day sessions seeing patients
in the clinic. His routine operating timetable involves surgery
of the upper limb joints, with a large number of shoulder operations.

PERSONAL PROFILE
Mr Funk lectures nationally and internationally on Shoulder Surgery
and Medical Informatics. He is Lead Tutor and responsible for Medical
Student education for the University of Manchester and runs weekly
local teaching sessions on Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery and Therapy
at Hope Hospital. Mr Funk partakes in and supervises numerous ongoing
research projects locally and nationally.
